I’m not good at keeping secrets, especially when they are juicy like a pregnancy involving ME! We swore that we didn’t want kids for a while, turns out we were right. We waited 5 years and trust me when I say we didn’t plan this, we all know how these things happen LOL.
Steven will tell you a different story that I planned this…but that’s for another day.
I was 98% sure I was pregnant but didn’t want to pee on a stick to confirm it. I am pretty in tune with my body and something just felt different. Let’s just say I was in denial. So I waited 2 days for Steven to get home from work to get take a test. I couldn’t pee for the life of me, so we just went to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night took the test and before I could ruin the moment I put the cap back on and placed it on the counter without looking. Before I could say good morning he asked if I took the test yet, he shot out of bed and asked where the magic stick was. We both walked into the bathroom and that little blue line was there! He looked shocked, nervous and in complete denial. So he went to the store and got two more tests and made me take them LMAO! After ALL of them came back SUPER positive he was convinced we were having a baby. After our hearts settled from the shock we took a picture so we could remember the moment.
The first thing we did was invite out best friends Shelby & Brett over for dinner to share the news. They had no idea I was going to drop that bomb on them, they just thought it was another night enjoying dinner together. I couldn’t get past 5 minutes before I told Shelby I wanted to show her something. As the words were coming out of my mouth Steven looked at me and said “you better wait for me!” All four of us walked into our freshly remolded bathroom and they were oblivious to what we were trying to show them. Shelby complimented the paint color and looked a little UN-amused. I finally pick up the stick and say “guess what?!” Shelby screamed and freaked a little and Brett looked shocked as hell. Because remember we swore we were never going to have kids.
We wanted to wait and tell everyone else until we saw the doctor but that didn’t happen… I called my Twin sister Kat to tell her I was on my way to her salon to get my hair Cut & Colored, she seemed a little too happy to see me so I just stayed on the phone a little longer and started chatting. She couldn’t contain herself and was like “hey I have something to tell you!” and I laughed nervously and said “really… so do I, you go first!” she said “no…you go first” we went back and forth a few times before she finally said “I’m Pregnant!” I swear you could hear crickets I was so quiet… she got concerned I was so quiet for so long and I finally said “oh my god! So am I!” we both screamed a little and didn’t know what to say. Luckily I was only a few minutes away from the salon and when I got there she gave me a huge hug and started crying. It was really cool knowing we got to go through this together. Not only did I get that off my chest I got a pretty awesome new do!
After seeing our little peanut I knew it was official and Now I had to come up with a way to tell the rest of the family.
I knew I didn’t want to have a cheesy announcement so I did what any girl would do….I got lost on Pinterest for hours. Everything I found looked like a lot of work or cost a bunch of money. And if you know me, you know I’m frugal and hate being wasteful. So I finally called my girlfriend Clarissa and asked her to make me some cookies! She makes beautiful and delicious cookies! Check her out
I didn’t know exactly what I wanted them to say or look like but I knew I was going to give them as gifts to my family on Christmas. So after searching Pinterest again we came up with these…
I individually wrapped each cookie with the corresponding family name and gave them to everyone at Christmas. I wanted to have everyone together on Christmas but it just didn't work out. I ended up telling half my family over breakfast and the other half later in the day. I could tell a long story about how everyone reacted or I can just show you these Videos. So enjoy the loud screams and various reactions.
So now that the entire family knows, It was time to announce it to the world. What better way than to post a cute photo on Facebook and make a mushy post! It was really hard deciding between all the cute pictures we took so ill just drop my favorites down below!
I hope you loved my announcements, as much as I did, I don’t think I would have changed the way it happened. Everyone was truly surprised.
